Education Council

Mission: Develop Lubbock Chamber of Commerce plan for engaging Chamber business members to support our public education process.  Help to engage the Lubbock business community in more opportunities to enhance career and technology education, vocational education and ensure that more Lubbock public school graduates leave high school ready for college, work and citizenship.  Support state-wide business led education reform efforts. 

Initiatives:

  • Lubbock County School Districts Shared Services Initiative
  • Lubbock County School Districts Graduation Rate Enhancement Initiative
  • Facilitate Business-Education Collaboration
    • Support local P-16 Council (Closing the Gaps) initiative with special focus on preparing students for life after high school
    There are four higher education institutions in Lubbock:
    Texas Tech University Lubbock Christian University
    South Plains College  

    There are eight Independent School Districts in Lubbock County:
    Cooper  Idalou New Deal 
    Roosevelt Lubbock Shallowater
    Frenship   Slaton
